How To Download Training Content For Offline UseUpdated a year ago

Sporty's is proud to offer all our pilot training courses on just about any modern platform available. This includes web browsers for any Mac or Windows PC. We also offer dedicated versions of Pilot Training Mobile for Android phone and tablets, Apple devices like iPhone, iPad, and MacOS as well as most smart TVs like Roku, FireTV, GoogeTV, and AppleTV. You can now also use the dedicated Pilot Training app on a Windows 11 device.

What platforms offer offline access

Accessing Pilot Training through a web browser or a smart TV will require an active internet connection to stream video training content, take practice test study sessions and view resource documents. If you plan to travel or wish to use the training content without an internet connection you'll first need to download one of the dedicated versions of the Pilot Training Mobile app.

This can be found for any Android device on the Google Play store. For iOS, iPad, and Mac, the dedicated app is in the Apple App store. If you have a Amazon Fire Tablet, navigate to the Amazon appstore. For Windows, please also use the Amazon appstore app for Windows found in the Microsoft Store. Once the app is installed on your device, sign in using your Sporty's account.

For all platforms, verify you have a solid internet connection and adequate storage on the device before downloading content as video training could consume several gigabytes of space.

Getting offline content for Apple Devices

No matter which Apple device you use, the Pilot Training app will work virtually identical so the procedure to access content offline is the same. Once you have downloaded the app and signed in, navigate to the desired course. At this time, the app has already saved FAA handbooks, Resource documents, and the entire test prep question database for offline use.

Now you may select individual video training sections to save or you may select an entire training volume to download. From the volume selection view, tap the blue down arrow in the corner of the selection thumbnail to download all the video training content for the entire volume.

If you wish to only save specific videos, open the desired volume and select the blue down arrow for each video desired and the download process will begin.

Please know that only a maximum of 3 videos will download simultaneously. Any additional videos will be queued for download, please remain connected to the internet until all desired videos are saved. You may navigate inside a volume to see the download status. You may stop or pause a specific download by tapping the "pause" button on the video icon.

By default both video and audio versions of the training content will be download. Once the download is complete the blue arrow will switch to a green checkmark. Optionally you can choose to only download either audio (CarPlay) or video specifically. If you have adjusted that setting, the green check mark will be displayed as a video camera or speaker.

You can select which type of content you prefer to save by selecting the "Offline download" option from the main menu by selecting the 3-dot button at the top right. Here is where you may also choose to remove any previously downloaded content from this volume.

Additionally, you can remove specific videos from offline storage by tapping the green status icon and confirming your choice. You may also choose to completely delete the entire Pilot Training app to remove any downloaded content. Also remember that no progress will be synced until the next time you connect to the internet.
